You may be required to complete a vehicle audit if this is a service your company has opted for.
If you drive your own, personal vehicle on business journeys, you will need to provide your insurance certificate.
I've been told my insurance only covers personal use
If your insurance policy only covers personal use, you will need to arrange additional coverage with your insurance provider to include business use.
Commuting versus Business Use
- Commuting: this only covers your travel to and from one, permanent place of work.
- Business Use: this covers all your business-related journeys. i.e. travel for training, meetings, client visits, etc.

I don't drive my personal vehicle on business
Driving on company business is defined as travelling to a different work location, off-site meetings/courses or client visits, etc.
If you never use your own, personal vehicle for business journeys, you will not need to provide an insurance certificate. Instead, you will need to update your record to the vehicle you do drive on business, such as a company-provided vehicle or pool/hire car.
- Log into Riskmapp
- Go to My Profile page. This may be your homepage by default. If not, click Go To My Profile at the top-left of the screen.
- Under Personal Vehicle Status, click the Actions button
- Click Update Vehicle Details
- First, delete your personal vehicle that you do not drive for business
- Next, change your Classification to what is appropriate: Company Vehicle or Pool/Rental etc.
- Finally, only if you have selected Company Vehicle, you will need to Add New Vehicle and enter the details of your company car.
